Employment Assistance

Preparing for your future begins with developing a strong academic foundation and learning all you can about the world of work and careers. You can get started by joining The YES Foundation's Future Workforce Development Program. You will work with YES Volunteers and Staff to learn job readiness skills, prepare for the school-to-work transition and develop academic skills that will help improve your performance on standardized testing. If you are in grades 812 and would like to meet exciting people, develop your personal power, explore new ideas, and have fun at the same timethis program is for you.

Non-Traditional Careers
You will participate in an intense exploration of a non-traditional career. Professionals from your chosen career will work with you for more than 120 hours of lectures, forums, field trips, job-shadowing and more. Each student will learn how to make career choices and receive opportunities to take review courses in preparation for the SAT, ACT and AP exams.

Pre-Employment Guidance
Here you will find information about basic job readiness skills by volunteers from the business community and participate in a dynamic training program that will instruct you in topics including:

Diversity & Communication Skills
The Interview Process
Job Search Skills
Customer Service

Career Exploration
Qualified eighth grade students participate in an intense, directed investigation into non-traditional careers. Professionals from the chosen careers, along with teachers, business and college representatives serve as resources for more than 120 hours devoted to lectures, forums, field trips, action research, job shadowing and test taking. Students investigate processes related to making career choices and they are provided with opportunities to take review courses in preparation for the SAT and ACT examinations and AP classes.
